The æthernef is a further development of the principles of the aeronef. Where the aeronef depends on the repulsive properties of the atmosphere when stimulated by electrostatic forces, the repulsors of an æthernef are tuned to react with the all-pervading æther. This means that not only is an æthernef possessed of similar manœeverability to an aeronef in a gaseous atmosphere, but it should be capable of navigating the void between the spheres.
The existence of the first æthernef - named simply the Æthernef - was recently publicly disclosed to journalists at Lympne.
